Zooplankton were collected using a 0.5m diameter ring net with 200 um mesh fitted with a mechanical flow meter (General Oceanics, Model 2030R) at the net opening and filtering cod-end. Nets were towed for approximately 5 minutes at 1-2 knots. Samples were gently rinsed with filtered seawater into glass jars and preserved in a 10% buffered formalin solution until later analysis in the laboratory where zooplankton taxa were identified and enumerated using a dissecting microscope.\n\ncdm_data_type = Point\nVARIABLES:\ntime (Time Local, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nstation (Generic description of sampling station)\ntow (Net tow number)\nlatitude (degrees_north)\nlongitude (degrees_east)\nvolume_sampled (Volume of seawater sampled, m3)\nsample_jar (Sample jar label)\nzooplankton_taxa\nzooplankton_abundance (m-3)\n | https://erddap.marine.rutgers.edu/erddap/metadata/fgdc/xml/DELAWARE_BAY_MP_zoo_abundance_fgdc.xml | https://erddap.marine.rutgers.edu/erddap/metadata/iso19115/xml/DELAWARE_BAY_MP_zoo_abundance_iso19115.xml | https://erddap.marine.rutgers.edu/erddap/info/DELAWARE_BAY_MP_zoo_abundance/index.htmlTable | marine.rutgers.edu | http://erddap.marine.rutgers.edu/erddap/rss/DELAWARE_BAY_MP_zoo_abundance.rss | https://erddap.marine.rutgers.edu/erddap/subscriptions/add.html?datasetID=DELAWARE_BAY_MP_zoo_abundance&showErrors=false&email= | Rutgers, The State University. | DELAWARE_BAY_MP_zoo_abundance | |||

Saba, Robert J. Chant, and N. L. Fahrenfeld. \"Microplastic concentration, characterization, and size distribution in the Delaware Bay estuary.\" Chemosphere (2024): 142523. Data include polymer counts by individual polymer type, particle concentrations, and other field observations. As described in Nitzberg et al, particles retained on 500um sieves post-wet peroxide oxidation and density separation with saturated sodium chloride were analyzed via Fourier Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) with Attenuated total reflectance (ATR) or tranmittance. Manufactured polymers >5000um were classified as macroplastics.
